this is giving me a headache trying to figure out because their increase is weird to begin with, in the article they’re measuring what happened in an entire year and comparing that to year so far (which makes me think maybe it all happened in the second half of the year because they don’t WANT to compare Jan-Aug to…
maybe Jersey shore - Philadelphia is always surprisingly quiet in summer b/c everyone goes there
why does this website always have such a patronizing attitude toward Bella & Gigi? Seems like kind of a weird dig to make fun of her for staying on a farm “when city life gets to be too much.” They are so much more down to earth than 90% of celebrities out there.
yeah I thought that was odd - like why were you painstakingly tallying up how many times he called himself gay in interviews?
I came here hoping for an explanation of which devil wears cheap shoes. Fake Tyra? Would she?? I guess she would. I hate that on the title though, it’s a dad joke that peaked in 2014.
why are some people able to access so much money while being so dumb? This isn’t how the world should work.
from my limited perspective, the people who write in about comics are the people who still commit to reading them on the daily - people get really feisty about them. The Buffalo News tried to cancel Prince Valiant (because it’s a tired and stale and stars a guy with a bowl cut) and the baby boomers pretty much staged…
Ok I wrote my comment further down, but completely missing from this conversation (unless I skim read lol edit: I did skim read but I don’t think it really got enough mention) is that this comic is drawn by SIX women in rotation, and Bianca is a relatively new edition (2020, but I had seen it growing up in the Buffalo…
I wish I could go back and re-read the comic without the context of this piece’s title and commentary b/c I didn’t even find it confusing and was kinda shocked that the commentary wasn’t “how dare she make fun of us white people” (like I was expecting) but was instead about minimizing BLM.
I agree with this - yeah, the bleach thing is completely whack. It seems like the pre-amble to “and then they were starved for 20 days because I thought it was helping them except then they died.”
I also think that anyone who wants to have any integrity as a journalist needs to move away from requiring every sentence a person says to work as a quote by itself removed from context. That’s conservative click bait mentality.
it honestly feels kinda judgmental, like they’ve decided that models can’t possibly be anything other than vapid and shallow because they’re models, which is fairly ridiculous for a site that aims for lite-feminism-through-the-lens-of-pop-culture branding
from the Twitter thread linked above:
agreed with other response - pulling out that sentence for the title makes her seem like she’s saying “I’m sorry you feel that way,” which wasn’t the substance of the interview at all.
edit: lol I forgot I started this off by replying to another comment... whoops
what? Her personal actions didn’t impact her business. Unless you’re implying that her getting tested when she should have just sat at home/quarantining in the Hamptons caused the entire COVID crisis, which seems like a stretch.
these are forgivable loans from the govt- as long as you meet the requirements (using 80% on employee hours or something like that, while maintaining a certain headcount that matches what you had pre-corona) you don’t have to repay them.
