OMG. Go back and read what I wrote/subsequent comments further explaining it.

lol again... you’re not reading what I wrote. It’s not about whether I agree with it being “unfair,” it’s that it’s questionable journalism to introduce a judgement.

lol I’m more objecting to the writing style, period, even though I’m also probably included in that group.

....you’ve got me there

Jezebel pieces are written aaaalmost like a normal newspaper article sometimes, but then you get lines like “Many still unfairly hold Sanders accountable for Clinton’s defeat in 2016.”

now we’re claiming Welsh is its own race? Interesting...

there ARE patterns in kidnappings, rapes, and trafficking. That’s why we’re able to say things like you’re more likely to be assaulted by someone you know, kids stand the greatest chance of survival in the first 24 hours, trafficking is more likely if you’re a runaway minor, it’s incredibly rare for missing people to

surely by now you have other posts about rapists you can use as an opportunity to yell about hundreds of years of independent culture?

yes, it is on the same island. I’ve heard the language spoken IRL, so I’m not sure what you’re trying to prove, be a blowhard somewhere else.

maybe your week is not being spent productively then b/c you know what I meant. British, whatever, same island

Yep...

I think we can acknowledge that her kidnapping/trafficking was atypical, without implying that being “less normal” makes it false.

look into the story of Chloe Ayling. Also English. Also a very strange story that many people didn’t believe. But her captor was aprehended.

I believe it, but as you said, the details may have gotten crossed while she was drugged. If she said she says she doesn’t remember going to an airport/plane, seems possible they never left and just made it appear as though she was “returning.”

maybe this is just me, but I didn’t realize until I went and read her piece that this happened YEARS ago and that she is speaking about it now to explain a YEARS long absence from the public eye. I thought from reading the above that it happened like... months ago.

“Envy-inducing shots of marble kitchen islands that seat six and a Viking gas range complete with a pot-filler have been a part of home renovation TV since Extreme Home Makeover, because homes are still designed for a family with one breadwinner, a stay-at-home partner and two and a half kids underfoot.”

“To keep businesses up and running” was key here.

this is interesting. I wonder if complaints (or responses) also correlate to the way different neighborhoods boroughs are generally structured? I feel like places with door steps to hang out with and neighborly sidewalks are going to see more people congregating than in front of, say, my sister’s high rise where

this resonates with me the most. I absolutely understand how time sensitive this is and how horrifying it can be to put something on pause when you might already be down to a few months of fertility, buuut, it is not a great time to tie up medical care with something that doesn’t *absolutely need to happen to save a

thank you - I think this was a much needed perspective and not what I’ve been seeing (from either side). It’s shitty reporting that was done with no real care for anything other than making a huge buzz at a bad time. I really wish it was a New York Times piece.
