This is a coordinated push by the RNC, far-right media outlets, and pretty much every racist charlatan on social media to smear AOC. Not shocked the administration sent out one of their dishonest stormtroopers to further the smear.

A lot of influential people watch the show, and it’s in a good time slot. They want to be seen. That’s one way. Hardball with a different host is much better than Hardball with Chris Matthews. Similarly, Morning Joe is better without Joe (and even better without Joe or Mika).

There probably is enough news fill 24 hours if it really covered world news. We spend a little time on Brexit or the yellow vest movement but don’t get in depth. There might be, if they did a lot more international coverage, and tackled important issues in depth.  But they are just a dog and pony show looking to entertain.  Which apparently means talking about Trump and every Tweet 24/7 as if they are continually surprised that Trump is an asshole.

This is the other problem with the 24 hour news cycle: talking heads have to stay “edgy” and “provocative” even when things aren’t. So you get morons like Chris Matthews slinging any stupid question he can at a wall and hoping something goes viral or gets a rise out of his interviewee.

And it is the WORST fucking kind of entertainment available. It literally causes anxiety.

I keep wondering when they day will come that people realize that theres not enough actual news to justify a 24 hr news channel. There never was. And if you think you need the news 24 hrs a day then you have a deep, deep, dark spiritual hole running directly through your soul.
