I re-watched this movie about a year ago after not having seen it since it came out and I was blown away by how good it was! I totally enjoyed it, and it's hilarious! Kat is such an awesome character, and young Heath Ledger.....sigh. It reminded me a lot of Mean Girls, it's awesome in a lot of the same ways.

Small festivals!! There are so many good, small festivals all over the country that are fun, worth the money, and a great way to get the "festival experience" (whatever the that even means) without having to put up with All Them Damn Kids. Hopscotch in Raleigh, N.C. comes to mind. Another great, small fest is the

I live in a teeny one-stoplight town in northern florida, and you would be AMAZED the kind of shit that goes on around here. When people wanna let loose with that old-time crazy, this is the kind of place they move to.

I don't have a lot of details. We only know the real story because one of the former waitresses is a friend of my father-in-law. There was a blurb about the place closing in the local paper, but nothing about the guy being arrested. There was some speculation that it was mob-related.

Haha believe me I've tried Googling for details. Nothing comes up except a few reviews of the place on UrbanSpoon. There was a little blurb about it in our local paper, but the details we got were all word of mouth. The restaurant was called the Black Diamond, in northern florida. I guess technically the town might be

Sudden restaurant closing anecdote: I live in a very rural, out of the way part of the deep south. There used to be this place not too far away that was owned by a British guy who also did all the cooking. We always thought it was a bizarre place for a British chef to end up, and wondering about the circumstances that

You two are out of line, that Carl's Jr burger is fucking amazing. Amazing.

Taking this opportunity to plug a friend of mine who is running for the Ohio House of Representatives: Michelle Lepore Hagan. She's on our side. Vote for her!

I'm an Ohioan currently living in Florida (I know....I know) and this makes me utterly fucking disgusted. I don't even know what else to say. Disgusted.

Is this in the Cleveland area? I think I know the Planned Parenthood you're talking about. My best friend worked there for awhile, and I used to go there for annual exams and what have you. I always had to fight my way past a crowd of morons with signs.

Oh, god, I think this was my mom.

Seriously, ply your bridesmaids/groomsmen with cold, sugary drinks pre-ceremony. I've been to THREE separate weddings where a member of the bridal party passed out during the ceremony.

Eh....I think it's related to the severity of chicken pox. Chicken pox is really not that big of a deal. I mean, we all had it as kids, right? I suppose if you had a kid whose immune system was compromised in some way it would be a good idea to vaccinate, but otherwise it just seems kind of unnecessary. Also,

Alright, this woman immediately loses all credibility for even mentioning ANY vaccines=autism bullshit. However, vaccinating your kid on a delayed schedule really isn't that terrible. We spread my son's vaccines out so that he got only two shots at each appointment instead of four, and it worked out fine. However, the

Down to Zero is a drunken karaoke go-to for me. Check out Bettye Lavette's cover of it as well, it's amazing.

Yeah, except they were TWO and SIX MONTHS OLD. I'm a parent, and I obviously don't think she made the best, most responsible decision, but I also don't think that leaving two very small children, strapped into carseats, in a locked car is as OMG SO DANGEROUS as people are making it out to be. Kids die in cars because

Classism can also be a big, nasty issue between the college and the town it inhabits. This is a huge problem in Oberlin, for example. Wealthy elites of the college vs. poor townies. Even at a school that cultivates (or at least used to) an atmosphere of absolute anything-goes liberalism, the divisions between kids

Oh, my god, that tumblr. That tumblr.....makes me weep for the future.

The sad, sad truthiness is that there are most definitely people out there who straight up don't understand that The Colbert Report is satire. That godawful your fave is problematic tumblr is a golden, shining example of this.

I'd really like to see people get on board with that idea. About ten years ago, my mother's longtime boyfriend had an almost-heart attack (he had to have a catheterization and WOULD have had a heart attack if they hadn't done it) and she went nuts over heart-healthy cooking. She bought all these American Heart
