There’s so much pressure on how our bodies look rather than what they do. So many women who are muscular get told they are unattractive, and so many women don’t lift weights, or stick with 2 pound dumbbells to “tone” out if fear they might look strong.

It is sickening that the poor guide who needed this job to survive is now facing the consequences alone. I hope the dentist is extradited .

True story. Lots of little cabins in the north woods.

Just wanted to thank you for the last paragraph in this article! I'm so tired of hearing about toxins.

A lot of times I do both. Initial layer of an avobenzone product then a top layer of zinc and titanium oxide product. My skin is pale and I like to run outside...

This makes me so grateful for my daycare provider, they take sunblock seriously. I still slop it on my fair skinned kid in the morning as well.

No kidding, this puts them at lifelong risk if skin cancer. I feel so bad for the kids and for the parents. How horrible to put your kid in daycare and have this happen .

These are not ‘boo boos’ but 3rd degree burns! I have a kid with pasty skin, I would be livid if he went to daycare then came home with burns severe enough to put him in the hospital! As a parent I trust daycare to take care of my kid, this would be an egregious violation of that trust.

I love lipstick! But feathering plagues me. Any tips/trucks I should know? Is it the lipstick brand/type? Do I just need to commit with liner?

My kid had the worst shit explosion when I was at the car dealership getting an oil change. And I didn't have a bag. It was so terrible. I cleaned up the bathroom and wrapped everything as best I could, there was no way I could take it anywhere, it was dripping shit. I did go to the manager and explain the situation,

I agree! Burritos are delicious wraps less so.

How awesome! She made the world a better place!

Thank you so much for this! I donate to MSF every month, what a wonderful organization.

Now all I can think about is how much I want fish tacos.

How depressing.

Yes! I was in Peace Corps and lived in Benin for 2 years plus I traveled in West Africa a lot in that time. That was my life for 2 years, hard to not reference at least occasionally.

Great article. I struggle with this, I tend to be kind of closed and am trying to be more open about sharing my experiences. I just got back from Paris and before I left, my friends encouraged me to post photos on FB. I was reticent because I didn’t want to appear to be bragging.

And learning some basic cultural norms. So helpful as politeness is expressed differently in each culture.

That sucks! I'm so sorry that you were treated poorly.

Definitely a less smiley culture. But that’s why you travel right? Politeness is expressed differently in different places. And I agree, there is a lot of eye contact and smiles to acknowledge common experiences.
