Thanks for this. We met late, married late, and had a child late, late, late. I was 39 and my husband was 48 when Little Miss Pinwheel finally graced us with her presence. But, his family is full of people who live into their 90s, so we took a calculated risk.

One of the main reasons I stopped dating is because nearly every guy within a decade of my age asked me if I’d be open to having babies—often as early as the second date, and once on the first. I declined, and gravely pointed out that they’d need to look for women in their mid/late twenties, early thirties. Every

I’m probably taking this personally, as I just lost 80 year old father at 26, but I’m going to quote my 71 year old mother: having older parents is better than never being born at all.

I read a theory that the reason Queen Victoria was a hemophilia carrier despite no family history, may have been because her father was like 51 when she was born and hemophilia-mutations happen more in the children of older fathers.

Even the autism link aside, I’m not sure I understand why so many men think it’s perfectly ok for them to have kids late in life. It’s honestly a burden on your kids, too, who will have to worry about an aging parent much earlier than their peers. Both of my parents were old when they had me, but it drives me insane

You’d be surprised. I have a facebook friend who very proudly posted about how he sat his elderly father down and came out to him as... really into BDSM. Like, he made that old man listen at length to how he loved sex dungeons and nipple clamps. HIS FATHER. He was really, really proud he had done this, too.

It’s amazing. I’m 32 and when I was single, I saw so. many. profiles of men that set their age range from 19-29. And this was from men in their 40s, almost always divorced, and almost always had at minimum one kid.

I used to refer to polyamorous couples in my youth as “people who have read a few too many Robert Heinlein novels,” but yours is better! Brava!

No, no, no. There isn’t a link between older fathers and autism. That’s just too damn logical. It’s the vaccines! Always the vaccines! Men are never at fault for anything in utero!

“The real reason that Nico and Bethany are not welcome at family functions is probably because everyone is sick of hearing about how enlightened, totally not jealous, and liberating their relationship is.”

Everything about Rose’s drug arrest appears to be sketchy.

Women get called out for it (Janet Jackson, Hoda Kotb) and the Clooney’s get praised *eye roll*

Narcoleptics are people, not drugs.

Right?! Does he think his genes are so important?

Well, they definitely sanded Michael down as the series went on because Steve Carrell is so likeable.

Dont forget the calzones. I got one recently purely because of Ben and it was all fucking ricotta cheese. How could anyone prefer this to pizza? FUCK BEN.

I don’t necessarily hate cringe comedy, but my issue with the American version of The Office is that it rode the line in an unpleasant way.

All of this is true. There’s been a real rise in kind people on comedies. It’s part of why I enjoyed Community so much, Cougar Town as well (despite the horrific name, CT became a very, very good show).
