Having to hear at 4 years old that your child is probably never going to be a doctor was heartbreaking. But I’d rather that diagnosis any day of the week than hear that my child has polio.

It can be tough to accept the fact that your child is different. But using quackery as a means to explain it does not help your child. At all.

I live in Québec, I had 50 weeks of leave, plus 4 weeks of paid medical leave during my last month of pregnancy.

Children often start using inhalants (glue, gas, etc.) at very young ages in some of these communities and by their teens many are hopelessly addicted. I would posit that severe intoxication may have caused the majority of these suicide attempts to fail.

This is a direct result of the Stephen Harper government pretty much ignoring Native Affairs for years. I know people who have worked in northern communities and the conditions in some of them are not conditions you should see in a developed country, ever. We can do better Canada!

I’m not sure how the leave policies work at these companies. Where I live the mother and father can divide their leave however they wish. We chose to have my husband take the last 2 months to facilitate my return to work and it was great!

Recent studies have shown that the neighbourhood a child lives in impacts their success more than any other external factor (parents, school etc. have much less impact). So, there are marked benefits to living in a nice area.
