RDJr was the lead actor in three of the top ten highest grossing films in the history of cinema (Avengers 1 & 2 and Iron Man 3), all of which came out within the last 3 years. He is easily the biggest box office draw in Hollywood right now. Him being the highest paid is kind of a no-brainer.

No, those films depict a dystopian corporatist (a distinct political system, look it up) future in which companies capture governmental functions through lobbying and monopolistic servicr vontracts. This is not "free market" in any sense of the word.

Politics aside, Atlas Shrugged is just a shitty novel. The characters are wooden and one-dimensional, the plot sucks, the "moral" lessons are ham-fisted, the dialogue is awful, and the monologues are tediously boring. Even many libertarians find it utterly unreadable.

Paul Ryan had to make an awkward public retreat from Objectivism during his VP run when a reporter pointed out that he was running on a Christian conservative platform and Ayn Rand openly despised everything about Christianity.

It's a joke about The League. The best friend of the character Rannazzisi plays on that show is a guy named Pete who is kind of a dick who constantly lies about himself all the time to get girls and scam people out of favors.
