Uh, trigger warning? Typing in all caps is the Internet version of yelling, which could exacerbate PTSD in people who had verbally-abusive upbringings.

I think it would be funny if for the last couple of seasons Trey and Matt just said "fuck it" and went full-on adult swim surrealist with South Park. Like completely change the premise of the show to the boys running a restaurant in a Florida beach town or some random shit like that. With absolutely no explanation.

This joke was best the first time they told it in "The Death Camp of Tolerance" which came out in like 2002.

Yeah I think it's weird that we are supposed to treat Caitlyn Jenner as a hero now despite her role in helping make the Kardashians a "thing", and the fact that she kinda may have killed an old woman through negligent driving. I mean, yeah - coming out as transgender woman is a really difficult thing to do, but…..

Michael Moore's is a shitty filmmaker because his films contain grossly inaccurate (and at times completely fabricated) information, laughably irrational arguments, and are cleverly edited in a way to imply the most ludicrous conspiracy theories imaginable without explicitly stating them. His documentaries do not even

Michael Moore is not known for making factual documentaries, smug or otherwise.

Your point applies to robbery victims, not assault victims. Asking a rape victim what she did to contribute to the rape is horrible. But is it any less horrible for the victim of a severe beating who subsequently has permanent injuries to deal with questions about how his behavior might have precipitated the fight? A

How does one define "intoxicated to the degree of being incapable to give consent"?

This is actually not true. A man can be quite intoxicated and still maintain an erection. Male friends of mine in college have experienced incidents of getting blacked out at a party and coming to with a girl on top of them.

If a guy and a girl both get hammered drunk at a party and then have sex, are they both raping each other?

Maybe, but all of the literature I've read on this indicates that the majority of rape in a community is perpetrated by a small population of repeat predators. These people are sociopaths and an education campaign about getting consent isn't going to reach them because they don't care about it in the first place.

The point is that this article makes the claim that victim blaming is limited to rape and not other crimes. This is just flat out wrong, as I pointed out. Victim blaming is very common in other crime types including robbery and assaukt.

You're kind of missing the point.

I'm not sure if this is really that common. The literature I've read on the subject indicates that the majority of rape is committed by a small population of repeat offenders (this is true of almost all types of crime, actually). The "normal good guy who just crossed the line one time" is not your typical rapist - the

There is still a lot of work to be done in preventing, investigating, and prosecuting rape (and providing better support to victims.) But I'm not sure how we square this supposed "rise" in rape culture with the fact that the rape rate in the United States has declined about 40% over the last 25 years. This is always

Seriously. I've never understood this utopian idea that rape can be eliminated simply with enough education. Some men are just evil and don't care about the feelings of their victims. Telling them "rape is wrong" isn't going to register when they don't care about right and wronf.

People also get mugged all the time without showing any outward signs of wealth or possession of specific items worth stealing. So actually yes, the analogy does in fact work quite well.

Right but whenever police make suggestions like "don't dress provocatively in public" "don't walk alone", etc they are accused of victim blaming. The chief of police of Toronto got in huge trouble with the organizers of Slutwalk a few years back for giving these safety tips.

I agree, but the examples I cited about the mugging questions were also an example of victim blaming. And there are other examples. One-sided assaults are often treated as mutual fights by cops and observers, with the victim blamed for starting it because he made some minor verbal offense to the perpetrator.

What specifically is the "huge difference" you are referring to?
