Here’s another article that goes into that more if you’re interested. I hear the author is a pretty cool guy ;)
I was shocked this wasn’t proposed sooner. Couldn’t agree more. These things have been going up in value over the last few years. They’re riced out or pass 100k miles ALL the time. A clean, low mileage car will appreciate enough and cost so little to run reliably.
This was an amazing read. Such an incredible story, Raph!
I see so much 914 when I look at this for some reason.
Congrats and best of luck, Travis! I’ve learned a lot from your writing, and you’ve even shared some of my stuff to the fp. You’ll be greatly missed over here, but I look forward to following you at R&T!
That’s awesome! Did you just walk in and straight up ask for a test drive?
It's funny, I see oem level of fitment as a bad thing haha. It's a shame that some people who buy these will never know that there are far superior options at lower costs.
In the past, unless they've been dealer-installed, good luck. Keep in mind that dealers will charge anywhere from 700-800 to install the simplest of 2" kits.
Mopar lift kits have actually been offered for years in a few iterations. Do you know if this is actually a brand new Jeep-designed kit or just an upmarked, rebranded, aftermarket kit like in the past?
As for warranties, is Jeep actually going to honor them? In the past, unless they're installed by a dealer, good…
What gets more attention on the road? The R8 or the 650s? I imagine more people are familiar with the R8, but the 650s looks more exotic imo.
Legendary. It was actually for sale for a crazy low price recently. I emailed him to enquire and never heard back.
Gearing's not too bad. I have no knowledge of the 3000gt, but rev high enough and the stock 1/2G gearing does the trick. Or, just swap for an EVO 3 5th gear and hit 200 at pretty low rpm.
I was actually STRONGLY considering breaking 200 in a 1 or 2G. I researched it extensively and believe that it is the best cheap platform to do so. Ultimately, I came to my senses though. Plenty of guys have done well over 200 in them, but I’m just not willing to take the risk in something that was never meant to
Actually, someone was STRONGLY considering breaking 200 mph, researched the best cheap platform to do so, and then came to his senses about doing 200 in a car that has no business going that fast ;)
That white 1G did 196.9 in the Texas Mile. With enough room, it'll do well over 200
I’ve researched this extensively and have the answer… a DSM. A built 1G (or 2G) Eclipse can do 200 pretty easily. They can be built to rev high, have strong bottom ends stock (and are readily upgradeable for big power), and have great gearing. They might not be the most reliable, but there are some screaming deals for…
I’ve researched this pretty extensively and have the answer… a DSM. A used built 1G (or 2G) Eclipse can easily do 200. They rev high, have strong bottom ends to push big power, and have great gearing. It won’t be the most reliable but there are some screaming deals for cars built right. A few months ago, this…
