Thanks. Yes I did have thyroid checks done a few times in the past several years and it always comes back as within normal ranges. I asked my doctor several times why I am at such a standstill and she handed me a poorly photocopied version of the Zone diet pamphlet. So I know now that I must change doctors soon.

Thank you trying to dispel the myth of obesity. I’ve never been a binge eater in my life. That’s not required to be obese. I eat mostly veggie carbohydrates and lean protein, work out four days a week for 90 minutes and two of those days are a two a day workouts when I lift weights. I only consume about 1600 calories

And why are you assuming that this, or any individual, does not have one? Why is it easier to assume so many have a psychological genesis for weight gain instead of a metabolic one? (My guess is, generally, smug superiority.)

Hey Upirons... That is awesome! ...And I know the feeling. FWIW - A few things to try. First and easiest, if you haven’t already done so, try to cut out most carbs. No need to go cold turkey. You can still have the occasional sandwich with light bread, not heavy rolls etc., but avoid the big ones like pasta, bready

For eons, the people with low basal metabolic rates were desirable compared to those that did not hold weight. Quite simply, those that pack on fat when with the same diet and exercise do so because their metabolisms are

I don’t pretend to know very much about it, but I subscribe to the “metabolic syndrome” described by Layne Norton (he’s a bodybuilding doctor)— your body has learned to live off such little calories that it keeps it’s homeostasis even though you don’t feed it a lot. The only way for you to loose now would be to eat

I’m sorry to hear about your predicament. However, congratulations for losing 200lbs. That is quite the accomplishment and you should be proud. But if you’re working out 6days a week and only eating 1600 cal/day, your body might be in “starvation” mode and keeps hanging onto fat/calories. I had plateaued, like you,
