Season 1 is turning out to be like Season 1 of Babylon 5, where the seeds of many later "Oh S**t!" moments are planted in episodes that many viewers initially wrote off.

If you can make a space ship that is (when "dead in space") robust enough to still have climate control so that the crew isn't frozen or broiled, and breathable air, why can't the built-in emergency lighting be bright enough for the crew to see without thinking it's dark?

Every alien planet will look like it's 15 minutes outside of Vancouver (and/or at a Ren Faire)!

Ooh! And they have "Dark" in the name, too. It's Daaaaaaark!

I see they are emulating SGU's effort to imitate BSG's "darkness" by literally turning the lights out.
