Meanwhile in Elite Dangerous.

Man, I have to say that I consider this one of my few crowd funding busts. I’m sure something will be playable *eventually*, but I honestly don’t care anymore. It’s funny how this endless iteration can actually kill interest for me.

I completely disagree with this statement.

“I’m purely arguing for the game itself...” Yeah on every single comment that is even remotely critical of the game. I hope you’re getting paid for this advocacy.

While it’s true that $27k is nothing in the world of venture capital, the people throwing that kind of money around on projects are doing it in exchange for equity, licensing rights, as a legal, structured loan, etc. I.e. they are actually investing the money and have at least some expectation of a potential return on

The ‘game’ as such is just beanie baby collecting at this point. You buy your non-existent future ship for $5K and hope to flip them to some even bigger idiot later for more money because of scarcity.

You can be pedantic all you want but it was obvious they meant that it hasn’t had a official non-”early access” release.

OTOH, $27,000 is chump change for an investor.

They’re also likely buy things that Gwyneth Paltrow endorses through Goop.

It’s really really, REALLy safe to say that, if you buy this $27000 ship pack,
YOU. ARE. A. FUCKING. MORON.
Rich moron, but a moron none the less.

Absolutely agree.

By unpredictable, you mean swing sword, step backwards, swing sword, step backwards?. I played this game in the actual beta for over 50 hours, that’s all there really is. Testers complained and suggested fixes, dev team was unresponsive.

Yeah feels a bit like that from reviews.

No man’s sky launched with infinitely more content than this game, that comparison is a joke. If theuy updated this game as a full time development team for four years, it might approximate the content of no man’s sky at it’s launch.

Sea of Thieves also had waaay more funding and a way longer development time, with more experienced industry professionals attached to it. How it came out so empty and barebones is beyond me.

NMS had more content though.

Not that Destiny has been able to pull of the most compelling stories in the world but...just narratively it was extremely underwhelming.

Don’t root for Bungie. The best they ever achieved was slightly above average. They got a lot of props for being in the right place at the right time, but they were never the studio fans imagine they were.

I’m on PS4 and didn’t get Destiny 2 but saw a lot of old comrades playing at launch while I played Warframe. I’ve since seen a suspicious amount of them playing Warframe recently. Anecdotal, but interesting.

Bungie has essentially screwed the pooch here for any future ban waves.
