"We need to get Lorde, young adults LOVE Lorde"
"We need to get Lorde, young adults LOVE Lorde"
Like I get that she's crazy talented and obviously did a great job, but the idea of a bunch of Hollywood people sitting in a meeting and just deciding that they're going to put a 17 year old girl in charge of the soundtrack for what they expect to be the biggest movie of the year is pretty funny to me.
Ariana Grande can do and wear whatever she likes. I just wish she would enunciate occasionally. That would be wonderful.
You have hit upon something I have been following since at least the era of Britney, Christina and Mandy Moore. They too all seemed younger and played younger than they were and their playful young sexuality and dances and very suggestive songs made them millions. A decade and a half later, pretty much the same thing.…
Autotune and other sound shenanigans. It used to be that studios would find pretty faces to mime to talented but un-pretty singers (Milli Vanilli being the most famous example) but now they don't even have to do that. The pretty face just belches into the microphone, and the technicians do the rest.
I mainly came for Bette Midler. I don't really know who Ariana Grande is? But Ariana's response was actually pretty classy.
But it definitely means she shouldn't be slut-shaming or using a marginalized group of people as an insult. And I didn't get the since that Ariana was saying that any and all criticism of a woman for anything is forbidden, I think she was just talking about attacking women for their choices with their bodies.
I'm going to have to disagree with Ariana not having any talent and being less talented than Bette Midler. She's not Mariah, Whitney, or Christina, but she's not Britney, Miley, Rihanna, Kesha, Taylor Swift, or Becky G either. I've heard several acoustic performances of hers on youtube, one acapella, lives, and other…
I think what needs to be understood here is that a question was posed to a 68 year old woman who has been in "the business" for decades. Why was the question posed? I don't know. Bette has done it all, and seen it all from environments and decades that were debaucherous beyond belief. She is also a mother, of a…
Here's the difference, I think. Bette in her heyday was transgressive, cheeky, outrageous, divine, and original at the time. Ariana's version of "owning her sexuality" ie generic sliding around on sheets in a video is what the music industry demands of all pretty young pop stars now. Adele singing with her naughty…
I've already said this but again she can't sing live. Her "talent" is made in a studio with computers.
grande doesn't have talent????? I find her music to be super annoying but no talent is a bit far... Girl can sing
I'm not a fan of Ariana or anything, but Bette should have never used the word "whore." What? Nobody enjoys sex anymore? You can't make it part of a sexy song/music video? This isn't even that bad for today's standards.
Absolutely, she rocks! And Janis Joplin.
No Shit! AND Chrissy Hynde!
I sure wish famous people would stop trying to out-good each other all the time.
I adore Bette, but personally I prefer the way that Suzi Quatro, the legendary female rocker, handled this topic. When asked about Lady Gaga, Suzi said something to the effect, "She's great....I just question her costume choices....I worked very hard for women to be taken seriously." Sure I enjoy pop, but when it…
no. i guess now i'll keep her tuned into radio versions only. gotta have something to sing along too in traffic!
I know this is only a peripheral point in the article, but can we talk about sheets? I can't find a decent percale sheet to save my life. What happened to them? They were all the rage in then 1980s and 90s, now, sateen appears to reign supreme.
have you watched her live? I thought she could sing too until I saw her perform at the vmas. She can't sing live worth shit.
