The whole point of the barge landing is that it is fail safe. If the rocket goes way off course, and they lose communication with it and are unable to trigger the destructive abort, then all that happens is a splash. A land landing doesn’t guarantee that.

With a sea landing, if something goes very, very wrong and your rocket is off by a few hundred miles, you hit a school of fish. On land, maybe you hit a school of children.

Also a good tool for finding criminals and solving crimes: 100% monitoring of the populace combined with mandatory searches of every person and property.

I like the touch of having dorsal and ventral cockpits, and clearly the artist put some thought into the design, but the lack of maneuvering thrusters on or near the nose would severely hamper the agility of that craft in a vacuum.
