If you think Tesla dealerships are any kind of special experience because they are factory owned, you would be mistaken.

The only reason dealers still exist is because they lobby to exist bribe politicians.

And yet I have to drive past at least 6 Ford dealerships on my way to the only Tesla store inside of a days driving distance.

That sounds exactly like any other brand or dealer that offers factory orders. Every new car I’ve ever purchased I’ve had to factory order (or at least wait until a dealer allotment that meets my wants is delivered) and you run into those exact same issues.

You sure? Go ask around on r/askcarsales

Tesla stores do all of those things besides have tons of inventory, though they have a few for test drives.

Literally zero people disagree with you.

The only reason dealers still exist is because they lobby to exist.

“But dealers provide so much value by helping the customer navigate the scary and confusing car buying process”

^^Fucking this man. Jalop keeps expecting a response from all of these big name auto manufacturers when they are barely more than a blog. An admission they have used as a defense. Also NO SHIT Tesla of all companies doesn’t want to talk to them...

Let’s be honest, you’re not reaching out to every automaker that has a customer with wheel alignment issues, has fallen asleep at the wheel, or has defective panoramic roofs. Your reaching out to Tesla because a response from them would be clickworthy for you. Most of your email requests are of the un-slick tone...

This is absolutely true. There’s no way that auto manufacturers can take Jalopnik, as a automotive website, seriously anymore. The hot takes, personal bias, and political rants of some of the few who have stayed have dragged this website down.  If I was Tesla, I’d tell Jalopnik to go pound sand too.  Heck, Nissan gave

As a long-time reader of Jalopnik, well over 10 years, and a loyal fan to a fault, it pains me to say this but the fact of the matter is...Jalopnik is no longer viewed as a media entity worth responding to by Tesla or any other major manufacturer. It surprises me that so many articles here point out that “I’ve reached

Maybe if you quit joking around and sent them serious questions they might respond?

Please don’t compare Tesla to GM or Ford. At this moment in history, everything GM touches dies, while Ford in mainlining its own destruction. Tesla on the other hand is so much more than a car company and growing :-)

5th: Erik, why is basic analysis so difficult for you? If deaths PER MILE went way up, that is most certainly NOT progress. Minor reduction is total numbers only because everyone stayed the fuck home for months, or even still. C’mon, man

“Or Tesla could become the Laserdisc of EVs when someone else comes out with the DVD of EVSs”

If you look at CEOs and captains of industry historically, outside of the auto industry as well, Elon is one of the nicer, humbler, more likable ones. It’s just that he has Twitter, and we have the memory of a pack of goldfish so we forgot Carnegie hiring a private army to shoot striking workers, Rockefeller is the

I think Tesla is a lot more Apple than Laser Disc. Apple keeps evolving, they used to be a computer company, then a music one, now a phone and app company. Laser Disc was Laser Disc, it was big, DVD was the same thing but small, the only evolution was to simply become another version of DVD.

If you think Tesla is disrupting the car industry take a look at spacex which has single handedly destroyed old space companies around the world. They have and will continue to dominate spacelaunch services for the foreseeable future. Elon has assembled in both companies a large highly motivated staff and given them

Exactly what any intelligent person knew would happen. Keep back paddling on your previous bias reporting Jalopnik.
