It seems as though the Safe Campus Act is sort of like the Patriot Act in that the people pushing it really hope that lawmakers will make positive assumptions based on the name without actually reading or understanding it. It’s about stopping schools from punishing rapists, so opposition to it is a good thing!
I was a Lambda Chi some 30+ years ago, and am not really surprised. FYI, LXA was the first fraternity to prohibit hazing of new members. To underline the prohibition, they changed the term of a new member from “pledge” to “associate”. They’re one of the more progressive fraternities around.
Well. This is a surprise.
I don’t even hang out on Washington Street / Pulaski area anymore when I go visit. I hang out in Normaltown, away from downtown, unless I want to go to the 40 Watt or Flicker or Caledonia Lounge or Manhattan or Little Kings or World Famous.
Went there for undergrad. It’s still pretty liberal, but you have to keep in mind that UGA also has a huge Greek culture which is...not liberal. And therefore, downtown Athens has shitty gross bars that don’t ID for all the undergrads. General’s is one of them. It feeds to its audience, I guess it what I’m saying.
lol, I was about to warn everyone reading this article, if you ever go to Athens, NEVER CROSS LUMPKIN
I used to work across the street from this bar :( I’ve never stepped inside. The bars around it were the worst too. Always filled with frat boy assholes with boat shoes and pastel shorts with like whales and shit all over them. The fucking worst. For anyone familiar with Athens, I rarely made it past Lumpkin…
My daughter had the stomach flu this weekend and threw up
Mexican food. This is still way grosser.
Leggings will be pants til the day I die
I’m so glad my dad has never had anything to say about me wearing leggings besides “hey, are those popular again?”
They’ll probably become the women policing other women and making videos about how “leggings aren’t pants”.
I can’t wait until every one of their daughters grow up and turn into Commie Liberal Pinkos to get back at them.
It goes beyond that even; sure refusing sex with your husband is a sin, but also “grimacing” is “a sinful attitude toward sex”; he’s basically condemning women for not smiling as they’re being raped.
I don’t know about this guy in particular, but he seems to fit with the school of thought espoused by some prominent conservative Christians that it is a sin not t appear joyful when doing your duty. Like, they punish their kids for doing what they are told if the kids don’t seem sufficiently happy about it. I think…
“As you rape your wife don’t look her at her face, trust me guys, that’s just awkward.”
This guy is seriously scary. He’s telling men it’s a sin for her not to want sex. What the hell is that? I know they think sex should be heterosexual, married and for procreation. My god, that view is sick if they can't see that consent and mutual enjoyment is also apart of it.
As a life long Christian woman this whole concept baffles me.
Ughhhhh this man has raped his wife dozens of times. You know it. I’m barely kidding when I say that writing that should be a sufficient confession to get him sent to jail.
