One that has always confounded me, but from the other direction.

I nominate the Audi 5000 as the most 80s car.

The EPA test is a joke compared to how people drive cars nowdays. These graphs are from: https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/fe_test_schedules.shtml

Everytime I see mention of the S80 V8, Im reminded of this video.

Diamond Star Motors also gave us these:

I had something similar happen when trying to buy a 50-state legal cat H-pipe for my 2001 Mustang Bullitt. The only one made is aftermarket, by Magnaflow. 50-state legal with an EO number. Over $1000.

I thought this was the future of Lexus.... ?

Yup, that’s how my mom taught me how to drive a manual back in 1992. We went out in her 1991 Escort LX and plopped into the parking lot at my high school. It was summer, so the lot was empty. For a couple of hours, just starting and stopping with just the clutch. Getting that feel for the engagement, doing it slow

YES!!!!  Came here to mention that it had been stolen in the OG “Gone in 60 Seconds”!!!

Mine wasn’t a crappy Jeep, but a wrenching story helped to land me my first job in San Diego. It was for a Network Operations position, and during the interview I was asked (by my soon to be new bosses) of an accomplishment I was proud of in the last year. I informed them that I had recently repainted my car with the

Hail is very unusual in San Diego. But we got a freak hailstorm, and my husband and I decided to head out into the storm. In our recently acquired 2001 Range Rover... sporting big/flashy 20" chrome rims on summer tires. We head east towards the mountains, and within about 15 miles it goes from hail/rain to snow.

Slightly used Ford Flex Ecoboost. Just a chip tune away from 400+ HP. Definitely flies under the radar. Big enough for all of junior’s crap to school, and fitting 3+ adults and the dog crate. And lots of $ left over.

In the early 2000s, my boss had an E36 M3 coupe in that purple color.  God it was beautiful!

I think if Chevy had any gumption, these tailights would have looked good on a US-spec C3 Corvette.

I’m not FordTempoFanatic, but I am a Tempo fantatic.  I’ve had multiple of the Tempaz twins, including a 92 GLS V6 5-speed sedan (that I regret now getting rid of).

Awesome... That is great to hear.  I had already been leaning towards them just based on my own internet research.  Hearing your experience with them seals the deal, when it comes time to redo these pieces I’ll be goign with them.

I’ve also got a 2001 Bullitt Mustang... riding on 187K miles of used up loosey goosey suspension.  It’s in the process of a slow rebuild.  I’ve been eyeballing some of the Maximum Motorsports kit.  Would love to know more about what you’ve got on your Bullitt.

The mid engine Corvette test mule was based on the Holden Ute.

Honestly, I think that the King Ranch version fills the same niche that the Eddie Bauer’s back in the 80s/90s/00s. Eddie Bauer and King Ranch both fill the outdoorsy/luxury niche, and even back then the Eddie Bauer Explorer was still second rung to the Explorer Limited.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Nissan has done something like this, buying them all back.
