The problem with tech like this is it won’t be used. Pilots need to be proficient at landing without these system in case it malfunctions. It is much like the ACLS where they really don’t use it because they get a no-grade on the landing. Every pilot wants to be at the top of the list with the highest landing grades.

This is all pretty insidious.

If they did, they wouldn’t say.

OK… Let me just sweep it up and bag it for you…

Also, CAFE standards have a tiny little provision in there that counts any plug-in hybrid with > 7kwh battery as some stratospherically high (80+) CAFE mpg, so really all that needed to be done was to strap a 7kwh battery to a full size pickup. What this is really about is that the shareholders don’t want the battery

If anything, Kia is the opposite. The brand still has a little way to go with suspension tuning, fit-and-finish longevity and overall refinement, but I would invite anyone not familiar with the brand to step into one of its current products; he / she would probably be pleasantly surprised.

In America you can tell your kids that they can grow up to be president, and theoretically it’s true. How do you tell a child that their are positions in this life that are unachievable due to your birth?

I’m ‘Merican, and I didn’t even know this. But I don’t much care about mpg since I drive inefficient vehicles.

Turns out there was an article on Jalopnik about the 54->40 thing:

He means that the “54 mpg” everyone talks about translates to about “40mpg” on the window sticker. 54 is the raw test score.

IRL I’m an American but I deadpan so severly that sometimes my wife has to tell other people I’m doing it.

My theory aboout the “upmarket Continental car with rhd” business (Delahaye, for example, never made a lhd car until just before the end) was that one’s chauffeur would sit nearest the kerb, ready to jump out and open the door for one. A theory which admittedly is set to naught by the lack of correspondingly lhd cars

My favorite part of British-isms is how many combine two words, both of which have no apparent connection to the final product.

Also known as a Lucas compensator.

Actually the Rover parts catalog called the dash a rail.

Well, let’s see.
