Regardless of whether you’re building for this year or the next five, you take Polanco without even thinking. He’s a better player today on a much better contract. Even if you think Cutch will rebound (I do), there’s no way he’s a more valuable piece in 3 years, to say nothing of 5 years, than Polanco is.
It’s still so amazing to me that even with everything you mention about this team that they did right, the thing that probably contributed the most to this championship was one of their best players getting injured, and I’m not even talking about Marc-Andre Fleury.
