My biggest fear is meeting the love of my life and he’s allergic to cats. I made a commitment to this cat when I adopted her and I refuse to give her up. So I guess I’ll just continue asking about allergies on first dates! Hahaha.

I started online dating and had my first date and it went well! After a lot of deadend relationships and being single for a while, it feels great to get out there and meet people.
“Just stay away from “they’re jealous of you” and that line of thing. It’s not true (or very rarely true) and doesn’t help matters.”
I am a meal prep goddess. I make a large dish of something on Sunday and then eat it for the rest of the week. Today I’ll be making a pork loin with brown sugar glazes in my Crock Pot. This works for me because I am single so its just one mouth to feed, and I eat relatively small portions. I love looking up new…
One of my favorite random questions to ask is “what is the most famous book you’ve never read?” There are a lot of famous books I haven’t read! My usual answer is Moby Dick.
I’m also a high school teacher. My last school did lockdown drills, in which we turn off the lights, lock the doors, and hide the kids from view through the window. My new/current school follows the ALICE method, so we do drills every few months. There are options - we have a messaging system that all teachers can use…
Actually, shooting a lock does not ruin its effectiveness or unlock it.
I love this show so I loved the episode, but I did find it to be a bit uneven. Throwing in a murder plotline feels out of its universe, even though Rebecca Bunch has done plenty of crazy things. Alas, I’ll be sticking with it to see where it goes! I know it hasn’t been renewed yet but I remember hearing that Bunch had…
As a singleton, I am surprised at how annoyed I am about this year’s V-Day. I usually don’t care, but I also feel like last year I didn’t see soooooo many couples posts. I don’t know, the holiday itself doesn’t bother me too much but as usual, social media ruins everything.
Yeah, what is he talking about? I’m not even sure what else the school could have done, they had already expelled the kid. And if he just walked on campus and pulled the fire alarm, what are they supposed to do? A lot of schools in Florida, especially large schools like this, are built so that hallways are outside.…
I am 26 and single, and ever since the holidays I haven’t been that happy about it. Meeting people is hard out there. I’m sending a solidarity high-five to you.
I know that ages for life events can vary region by region, but 28 is really not that old to meet your spouse. In fact, where I live (DC metro area), that could even be on the young side in many cases. I think late 30s and 40s is more the age that has insight into these questions.
I’ve heard rumors about people being fired for all sorts of marital issues in the Catholic schools. I had a friend whose mom worked at a Catholic high school, and when she got remarried to a Jewish man, she was fired.
“Anyone who did anything bad ever must be wiped from the history books” is an invalid and irrelevant argument in this situation. Renaming bridges and taking down monuments is not the same thing as rewriting history. Renaming bridges and taking down monuments is simply no longer celebrating racists and bad people. No…
Agreed, and its also the principle of it. Pay MORE when you lose another income...makes no sense.
There is a whole helluva lot of relationship privilege that I wish people would discuss more. I feel like I’m penalized for being single sometimes.
I loved this episode. I thought the time jump was executed really well. Often in shows that do a time jump, they’ll have the characters in completely different life stages, looking physically changed, almost like another life time has passed. In reality, eight months during, for lack of a better phrase, “monotonous…
I was also born and raised in Florida (Miami) and my parents talk often about the fire coral and elkhorn coral 30, 40 years ago, and how brilliantly red and orange it looked and now its completely bleached and dead. They said that sometimes it looked like the ocean was on fire. I completely missed all of that.
I just moved out of South Florida (born and raised) and while I love my new state, this article made me miss the tropics somethin’ fierce. I’ll have to take a trip down the West Coast of Florida this summer and just stop at every cool spot along the way.
I think it has aged horribly and it is a really bad show. I never watched it and my friend said I should check it out. This was summer 2017 - I was 25. I could not continue watching. I don’t think there is anything empowering about it and I didn’t get why people hailed it as a feminist show when all they seemed to…
