I started reading Jezebel pretty much as soon as you all started, when I was in high school! Jezebel helped me become the woman I am today - curious, critical, witty, and smart. I grew up and came of age along with the wonderful stories that peppered this website, as well as learning so much from the commenters. When

I think Bush was an idiot but at least he was a happy idiot. Trump is an idiot clown who cares about no one other than himself.

I have a question - I have a 403(b) that I contribute to each paycheck. Then on top of that, I have a personal savings account that I just put money into as I go along. Do most people do that or do they consider savings to be just official retirement accounts?

Same. I’m in my mid-twenties now but recently moved to a more pricey city (due to a great job opportunity) and am REALLY careful about my money. I’ve always been a natural saver but I’m a lot more hardcore about it now. Every cent counts. I went shopping today and bought some clothes because there was a sale, but I’m

Happy birthday! Mine was just on Thursday. I have to say the best birthday present I ever got was my cat when I turned 16. My dad and I saw her in the window of the vet’s office one day running errands, I said she was cute and I wanted her, and genuinely did not expect anything to come out of it, and then on my 16th

You very clearly did not even watch the video or listen to the song.

I would also say “Love Kernels” from Season 2, just because its the PERFECT satire of Beyonce’s lemonade, and in the beginning when she’s dressed as a cactus and says “I guess the only way to explain it, is through abstract symbolism” it kills me EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Omg, that piece by Sean Penn was hilaaaaarious. Such a #classic “I’m a badass renegade Hunter S. Thompson style” cringey piece. Amazing.

I feel like its pretty obvious that the phone call is a prelude to them getting back together.

I honestly think the most vocal “feminist” men are the ones who are the shadiest. I know that sounds depressing but that’s been in experience in the community I came of age in (college and early 20s).

Courtney Love changed my life. I got into her music when I was 12 (in about 2005...so I was retroactively getting into Hole) and that opened up the world of music, punk, shows, and just a generally alternative lifestyle that has defined many aspects about me for over 13 years now. Because of her music I got through

I’m on the fence about this. When I was in college I hung out in a very insular and self-contained scene, so people were always dating someone’s ex or hanging out with each other. Every now and then there’d be an issue between some people or a pair of friends, but for the most part, the overall group stayed out of it

Same here! I started watching this show last year when I was going through some personal stuff...very lonely, unhappy relationship, dissatisfied with my job, etc. It was PURE escapism and it totally worked. I love this show so much!

He’s one of those guys that acts super alternative and edgy and deep but then consistently dates the cheerleader.

YES. I had a friend tell me that she views all relationships as having a lifetime. Some friendships may last a few years to many years. Some relationships may last a few months to a few years, or “forever.” If something ends, it doesn’t mean it didn’t work. If you had two awesome years with a partner and both agreed

No need to apologize! Its just a part of life and aging, and I’m pretty level-headed about it. Your story was spooky, but ultimately saddening. I can only imagine how that image and sound has stayed with you.

Ugh, this shattered me :-( My grandma has terribly advanced dementia and lives in a nursing home, because we aren’t equipped to take care of her. Even though we spend time with her constantly, I still worry. :-(

Yeah, obviously ghosts aren’t real but I feel like some people just have a stronger imagination and it affects how they perceive odd or coincidental events. I just don’t have that trait, I guess, and neither does anyone in my family. *shrugs* But I love reading the stories!

ICONIC.

That is so weird. I work with a lot of men and honestly none of them have ever made me uncomfortable. Its easy to not get accused of sexual harassment if you don’t sexually harass people...
