Realistically? Because they pulled off Mario Odyssey within the first year. They can’t maintain that kind of momentum, especially in secret. It was grand that they came out of the gate flying, but they have to get into a sustainable pace or else the Switch lifecycle would burn out the same way Wii U’s did.

Start with a smaller roster to make development easier and quicker, but release a steady stream of new characters over time. Because, Switch.
