My company had an insane formula to ‘grade’ you as an employee. Then the proceeded to tell you how much bonus you could have made if you scored 100% on all of the metrics. They saw this as an incentive.

Well played. I also have to guess where my boss will rate me on a 1 to 5 in a variety of subjects. If we disagree we have to discuss why we didn’t agree. Neither of which affects my job or salary.

I believe acknowledging context and the time period matter. Does that mean we have to go back and sanitize everything we find ‘offensive’? I kind of like how Disney has added disclaimers. I can appreciate a comedic act that was funny at the time but would be problematic today.

The fact they are acknowledging this raises the question, why now? I would say it’s definitely not alien, but misdirection by our so called leaders.

The paragraph about Liman makes it sound like he crafted the whole story. It’s not like he took a shitty script and rewrote it on set.

People need to separate the Art from the person. People are fallible and can be brilliant and horrible at the same time. 

It’s weird how you give all the credit to Doug Liman. Go was the first script by John August who has had a pretty successful writing career writing Big Fish and several films for Tim Burton.  

The faux outrage kind or proves his point. Let’s offer a little context that Twitter warriors choose to ignore: Rogan was talking to another comedian about the effects of cancel culture. Comedians are right to be leary of everything they say. Who knows what they will accuse you of. 

For fuck’s sake:

Yeah, whatever makes their fragile sensibilities feel better. If people don’t choose to fill them out assume they are a dude if they look like a dude, and a lady if they look like a lady.

Why did Qui-Gon? Or anyone else for that matter? Couldn’t they use the force to sense how strong the force is with them?

I agree it had a chance to be really great. I think the change will be positive.
