I was thinking and reading about this last night and came across the fact that Daniel Ellsberg, who released the Pentagon Papers, was prosecuted under the same law that Manning was, but the charges were dismissed. It isn’t anything new for whistleblowers to operate outside the law, and the face heavy consequences.
