The NPC doesn’t allow alcohol in houses, and the University (at least, CU) through the office of Greek Life helps to enforce these rules — so, they’re “self-imposed” in that current collegians have no say. :p

Ah, I was class of ‘11. So I guess the housing thing happened ‘05 or ‘06. :) I think a bunch of groups get auto-housing (or at least, they did when I attended), but I can see how it would be annoying for those outside the system — housing was a gigantic PITA (and still is, as far as I can tell).
