If your tomato based sauces involve sauteing any veggies, you should be salting upon the addition of each veggie. Pepper too.

I agree. Every bit as bad is not marrying the pasta with the sauce in a heated pan.

Olive Garden was never great. However, 20 years ago when I was poorer and was not the exceptional cook (my opinion) I am today, it was no where near as bad (I know this because company outings land there sometimes, unfortunately).
