Every time I see this article (and I see it once or twice a year on average) it always ends up presupposing that movies are supposed to be short. Even when the author admits that there are plenty of examples from history of long movies, and several of them are among the most famous and most profitable movies of all…
Here’s a hot take: Why are movies today so damn short? Compared to the Golden Age of Cinema, modern films are lacking in runtime. Remember intermissions?
I’ve said that for a while. Working with celluloid film is time-consuming and much more expensive that digital film. Studios had a financial incentive to keep films shorter. Now that incentive doesn’t exist.
My theory is that Matt Reeves really wanted to do a prestige TV version of Batman, which for whatever reason the DC suits have resisted for decades, where the plot of The Batman would have played out over the course of an 8-12 episode season. So it was phishing in the end. My company went triple down on Cybersecurity training in the past year for good reason.
I’m pretty sure he has since he is a notorious klutz who drops expensive crap all the time. They could do a montage of “Linus drops stuff” from all his videos and it would be at least an hour long.
Watch it, man.
“Will somebody get this big walking franchise outta my way?!”
That source also said there was a reactor leak…
