I know Jim Sterling has done loads of videos about the “just cosmetic” thing and nasty ecosystems/forced grind/”FOMO” (Limited time content)/Etc. that come with it, but I’m not sure if that’s specifically what they’re referring to.

I think where you are missing an important factor is the “value” of rarity. People pay more for things when they know they will be a short list of people of who have it. But yes, I’ve wanted to see someone do a consumer test ever since selling skins at $15-$20 instead of $5 became the norm.
The economics of this stuff has long been fascinating to me. Because, if you can sell a $1 skin to 100 people, or a $100 skin to 1 person, you’ve made the same amount of money. But my intuition would be that the $1 skin would sell far more than 100 times what the $100 skin does. I would think tons of people would be…
You literally just listed every single debunked argument for this garbage manipulative price gouging.
I’m not even sure where to start.
spending real monies on in game cosmetics has always been an absurd notion to me.
Ah, the Nintendo sales model.
Counter-point: No, he hasn’t. He’s a doofus and a hype-man. Nobody that holds him up as an arbiter of modern hip-hop can ever seem to actually pin-point exactly how he has contributed. He made, like, two popular singles. Comparing him to Snoop Dogg or Biggie Smalls is facetious, at best.
It’s important to teach your children that life is horrifying and full of random tragedy at an early age.
We tried to raise butterflies with our kids a few weeks ago and it was an absolute nightmare. Got the mail order caterpillars, bought a bunch of milkweed and put them all in a big butterfly enclosure. Many of the cocoons detached from the enclosure wall and fell to the floor. When this happens, the pupae convulse and d…
The original Canadian founder, Guy Laliberté, is also a piece of work. He fucked off to his tax shelter island after the 200 million dollar sale but has now emerged wanting to reinvest in the company, but wants the Quebec provincial government to use taxpayer money for this. He also went on a multiple day trip to the…
Your sources are clearly not very knowledgeable or maybe they just hold a grudge? Not exactly how that happened. The situation is very sad but it’s only fair to point out that most (if not all) decisions since February were taken by the owners, not the CEO...and you guessed it, those owners are billionaires from Fort…
Cool. Hopefully Ubisoft doesn’t go full nintendo on them.
I don’t know about y’all but I certainly didn’t expect “blackface Pikachu” to be checked on my 2020 Insanity bingo card.
Because Nintendo and especially Game freak are ass-backwards like this.
Seriously. Not even from a “I want it” sense (I do, especially for the Switch, but the modded trilogy on PC does fine), but in a “this is the most obvious way to make a quick buck and you’re a company that loves quick bucks” sense. I can’t imagine a world where the resources put into improving Anthem will net more…
The difference is that in Canada we don’t have armed militias storming public offices while “within their rights”.
I was just playing off the joke that Konami doesn’t make games anymore. No need to take it so seriously. XD
Better? Eh, yeah, I guess, but it also looks like every other generic Japanese Anime game. Like that last image: why not let a girl have an ugly scowl on her face? No, no, gotta make her look cute and wistful instead.
