Because I remembere the Spurs when they sucked. The years after Gervin left, Gilmore got old and the only player worth cheering was Alvin Robertson. They were a painful team to watch play basketball. That 88-89 team, the one Larry Brown somehow coaxed 20 wins out of ranks right there with some of the worst teams of

Yeah, I’m really enjoying reading them. Seems like the “Spurs play the right way meaning technical excellence, Cardinals play the right way meaning moralizing smugness” is the winner, with a dash of “St. Louis is more obnoxious or at least more thought about than San Antonio” and “Gregg Popovich is so awesome that

You’re getting some great explanations here. Good thread!

They essentially canned McHale because he was too hard on the team. Thib’s got canned from the Bulls because he’s even more of a hard ass. I don’t see that playing well with the the babies in Houston.

Firing Kevin McHale and replacing him with J.B. Bickerstaff was not a smart move.

Yup. The Spurs are a Tom Emanski video brought to life. The Cardinals are the fucking prosperity gospel.

I would say it is partially because nobody gives a shit about San Antonio as a city, so it’s hard to get too worked up about it. And that the Spurs have been legitimately great while the Cardinals have been kind of meh with some lucky playoff runs.

The “right” way in baseball is more a racial dog whistle rather than having to do with the quality of a team. In general it requires a team to have some big Texas buck pitcher who’s just a simple family man, and Joe Buck to repeat this point ad nauseum.

Nobody hates the Cardinals because they sublimate their egos for the betterment of the team. People hate the Cardinals because their expression of ego is that they are better than everybody (not physically, but morally) because they are a “team”. They aren’t sacrificing their ego. They are stroking it.

Guess which of those two teams has an insufferable, self-righteous group of asswipe fans.

Because the spurs aren’t dicks about it

“The Spurs succeed because every player is unified in trying to play basketball the “right” way.”

Keeping Cup drivers out of the XFinity or Truck series will never happen for 2 reasons:

First, congrats to Erik Jones and best wishes for his father (f.u. cancer).

They need to just bar Xfinity series drivers from going down to the lower series’. You don’t see Lewis Hamilton driving GP2 races and then F1 races. It’s just silly.

That’s how I pictured them looking at Bernie’s funeral.

I haven’t really seen Nene in action...

Ironically one of the (many) issues I have with her is that she labeled another woman as having an eating disorder upon meeting her. In her “confessional” she said, that even though she has never had an eating disorder she recognizes in Jules’s appearance signs from her mothers. She also called the woman’s husband an

She’s kinda sorta refusing.

If she had the characters she would have added “polka dotted”
