Right, because racism is dependent on a power dynamic. Using a racial slur towards someone (historically, economically) on top doesn’t have the sting when uttered to someone (historically, economically) on the bottom.

You’re making a great point, but I do think lumping “Indians” and “Redskins” into the same bucket might be a mistake. From what I understand (as a honky myself), “Indians” is often the preferred term even moreso than Native American, while Redskins carries a much different meaning.
Some Indians find the term Indian offensive and prefer Native American, or First Nations, or something else. Some Native Americans do not find the term Indian offensive and, I believe, prefer it. I make no claim to knowing what the more common attitude is right now among a geographically far-flung culturally diverse…
Most racists don’t want to believe they’re racists. Those are the ones who get most upset because it strikes a nerve.
Bull. Shit. I’ve seen a lot of people sling a lot of really blatant racism around and then claim they’re not racist at all.
Yes. Because white people haven’t been the victims of historical and present-day racism anywhere near the same extent. It’s a lot easier to be cool about being called a racial slur when your race is on the top of the heap.
Ugh. As a Jew living in New York, I say...
Even “honkies” has almost no effect. You really want to make white Americans experience what it feels like to be the victim of a stereotype based purely on the color of their skin, make a shirt with a white cartoon face that says “Racists”.
“How can I explain away this boner?”
Lilliard is now. He was nowhere near that 3 years ago. Developing players, surrounding them with talent is just as important as drafting them. Take Noels for example. Next December you got decide. Do you max extend him? You have no idea. He’s never developed his game. He never had teammates that compliment him.
Yes, yes, but what do white dorks who find Serena unattractive think?
Can you please provide a list of stars going to LA or NY in the past decade who were highly coveted and led NY and/or LA to a title? Pau was traded so I don’t think there are any.
I would argue, that Serena Williams is the closest analog that we have to Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), on Earth.
Wasn’t Golden St exactly in that scenario you described? Is San Antonio really a premium destination? Their roster was all late round picks plus a 36 year old Duncan. Dallas was a middle tier team for years before making the leap. So 3 of the last 4 teams to win a title refute your thinking. The exception being a top…
Enough with the myth that players want to play in New York. The Knicks and Nets both stink. Social media and streaming has made fame possible for players no matter what franchise they play for.
No one feels good about Boston winning anything. You don’t get to be a “feel good” story when every professional sports team in your city has won a championship in the last decade.
Huh, what do you know. Being careful and smart in the trade market, hiring a good coach, and carefully managing your team to provide an entertaining on-court product leads to more success than either tanking for draft picks or trading them away for old free agents. It’s almost like Olshey has... some sort of, I don’t…
I don’t agree with a lot that Charles Barkley says and clinked on the article fully expecting to mock his latest quote.
I dnt play them games
If the gold medal hung in the balance with the choice of the roster spot, no fucking way. He used to at least be a good on dimensional gunner, now he is a fat, inefficient, non-entity on D gunner.
