I mean, from everything we’ve heard, he was just shitty at his job as a manager, but not in a way that leans into crime, like other companies in the industry. So yes, if he didn’t like his job or managing people, and it led to him acting poorly. then sure. Just don’t let him manage people anymore, I guess.
No it couldn’t have been a VN or a movie. The experience of learning what happened and gaining insight into the lives of its inhabitants as you explore the house could not be replicated by a movie or a VN.
It was practically the first game that got mainstream media attention to feature a story about gay characters. It was also the game (for better or worse) that launched the era of "walking simulators." It's noteworthy in many ways and I remember being very impressed by it when it came out.
But... It couldn’t center on a straight romance. The main conflict of the game and the literal reason the home is empty is that your sister is gay and your parents are homophobic. Every single element of the game is informed by that. It’s like saying that the film milk is just ok and if it wasn’t about a gay dude it…
Yeah no shit. The story’s about a young girl discovering her sexuality and how it affects the rest of her life, her relationship with her family.
It seems like he was completely and utterly kicked off the project, but that the people who used to work at Fullbright are still making the game, sans Gaynor, and he is “Solo Dev” at Fullbright games now.
I will be playing BotW first just because I already have it, had 35 hours in it and can’t actually afford the new one right now. I think 3 years ago I got to the desert and kinda gave up but luckily there’s not much to remember really so I’m already back in it!
A diversity of takes is always good, but I’m not sure about the reviewer’s specific reason for scoring the game so harshly; in this case, it’s fair to say it boils down to it not being similar enough to much older entries.
This one goes out to everyone who has ever said “only fans of this series should be on the review”, a practice that serves nobody except the fans who were already gonna play the game anyway.

If they receive no meaningful pushback for releasing shit Pokémon games they’re never going to suffer consequences fo anything. They’ve learned they can act with impunity and it has no impact on their profits.

That’s honestly my biggest concern about Nintendo’s next platform. I’d hope that they make the right decision - and they have made some comments in the past about how they want to allow folks to carry their Nintendo account and purchases beyond the Switch - but... it’s Nintendo. You never know when they’re gonna make…
Agreed. If anything, he’s taking responsibility for it. Tough break for Microsoft, but seriously do more Phil your a multi-billion dollar company with more than enough resources to fix the game development and quality issues. Gamepass is wildly successful but it’s really all about the Games.
