That was the way I felt going into Ragnarok, particularly since Marvel had insisted on stopping Age of Ultron cold for, essentially, a very uncompelling Thor 3 teaser. That said, Ragnarok was rather delightful and different, and the Mighty Thor arc that they’re doing in this movie is something I enjoyed in the comics.

Thankfully, Waititi stitches that use of “Welcome To The Jungle” into a larger musical theme involving Guns N’ Roses

When Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) encourages him to visit his few remaining loved ones in order to center himself

Hell, he barely voiced him in the movies.

Even during my most closed-minded, knuckle-dragging, hardcore-fundie conservative days of my youth, when I did think the rights of the unborn outweighed pretty much every other issue, I always thought that exceptions for rape were pretty much the definition of a no-brainer. And if anyone had told me that, no, even

It might have been scenes of Gorr killing and dismembering all three of them!

“but so would millions of yours for the conservative hunting permit”

It’s an accepted risk purely on the studio. The actor had to do all the same amount of work, and they are union, no fucking around with getting paid.

“Gorr The Divine Haberdasher” doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

Just want to say I love these reviews. I’m a 40 year old white bloke in London, and I’m a nurse, so it’s fair to say I have a lot of Muslim friends and thought I generally understood the culture. Watching this show and reading the reviews shows me - I know fuck all. And I’m really enjoying the learning.

I couldn’t believe the sheer production scale of this episode. Ms. Marvel may be the most cinematic of the Disney+ shows. All the Karachi locations. The final wide shot of the Partition train. Not to mention completely new end credit animations entirely set in Karachi with the new characters instead of Kamala’s family

Looks like the Supermax prison was introduced ahead of an expanded role/setting in She-Hulk.

People who complain about how things aren’t like they were in the comics baffle me. You KNOW those stories. If you want to re-experience them reread them. This is it’s own thing that uses the comics as a jumping off point.

They had the same caption in the last Riverdale thing. Guess they’re just going all in on this.

Nothing goes over his head. His reflexes are too fast. He will catch it.

Her parents, too.  They are so perfectly cast, and I love every moment they’ve been onscreen so far.

For what it’s worth, the episode itself specifically noted that they were “pre-Islamic,” so the error here is the article’s.

Although I enjoyed the episode, I thought the big fight scene was pretty blah. The pacing felt pretty inconsistent and the Djinn seemed unremarkable meat, more like Tracksuit guys than supernatural beings.

The moment that I especially enjoyed: when the East Asian bride and the South Asian bride take just a second in their distress to admire each other and tell each other how beautiful they look.

This show has been an absolute delight so far. Iman Vellani is having a blast, and we are fortunate to be watching her on screen.
