Someone did something similar, because apparently on some (all?) new cars the horn is tied into the CAN bus, which makes it very hard to just tap it politely. I guess you have to hold it down long enough for messages to make their way through the system.

If I’m on a two-lane road and there are several cars stuck behind someone waiting to turn left, and I have enough of a gap ahead of me to coast a bit and wave them through, and I know I have a long line of traffic behind me, I’m going to piss you off.

My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee has that same light, as I discovered when my oil pressure gauge flaked out. I assumed since “gage” is a valid alternative spelling they did that to conserve on space.
