Bring back the Scrambler!

That is indeed perplexing. 

That “very pretty, pearlescent-gray color” reminds me of Jeep’s “Sting-Gray” color to which I unaffectionately refer as “snot gray.”

Rotopax has been on my shopping list for years. I’ll grab one eventually.

I found a 50s commercial from Willys on YT once and they pronounced it wrong, so I assume at some point after the war they gave up the fight.

I somehow managed to forget this sad story about trying to do good and instead being an idiot.

That’s fantastic.

Brooks Stevens wrote about this while the war was still underway. Quite a few of his predictions, maybe most of them, were pretty far off, but his interest particularly in what the wartime Jeep could evolve into led Barney Roos to invite him to collaborate with Willys, which led to some of the most iconic Jeeps ever,

From the top pic it certainly looks like it does. The Rubicon fenders effectively meet the hood (non-Rubicon JL pic at the end for contrast).

Spotted this recently and now I want one...

I spotted a church bus with the top chopped off on a recent road trip, and both times I passed it I wanted to stop and take a photo for opportunities like this to make a joke.

Around here, a 5k TJ is almost always a 4 cylinder. A far cry from the specified V8.

You misread that. He spent 50000 hours haggling with the dealership over it, mainly waiting for the salesman to talk to his manager.
