I also have the feeling that if their "oneiti" (is that the word? I just can't!) DID really want them, was ready and consenting—-they would not be able to handle it. I had a similar experience, where my husband (following Trayvon Martin) basically said that racism wasn't over but sexism really wasn't that bad, because there wasn't the same level of physical threat.
