Children and adults also have trouble with basic grammar like confusing "it's" and "its." Here's my trick: if you need two words (it is), then you also need an apostrophe! If you do not need two words, no apostrophe!

I teach in the Seattle area and few students know how to identify reliable sources. They want to use Google searches and Wikipedia.

That is obnoxious! I went to a super-liberal school, and sometimes people would come to campus to try and save us. Enough students would start stripping or making out that they left quickly.

I think bigger schools often have a protocol to follow to figure out what threats are credible and need to have a response (lock-down, evacuation, etc.) instead of just being ignored. The big school I used to teach at got a fair number or bomb threats—but not credible ones, so we just carried on.
