Actually, according to a survey done at ECCC, 52% of attendees identified as female, with 46% male and 2% non-binary. I find that to be pretty telling.

I think the thing here is that SHE touched THEM, not them touching her. If a kid hugs a teacher, it's fine; if a teacher hugs a student, it's not. I imagine that the shoulder touching wasn't as much of a concern as the thigh touching, though (which is super messed up).

Yeah, what Kate830049 said. Adding on, though, you want to refer to someone as a transsexual man or woman, not just a transsexual. Also, a lot of trans folks (myself included) find transgender to be preferable to transgendered, just because transitions kind of go on forever.
