People are still getting takeout? That’s the last thing I’d do now. Instead, we’re cooking, baking and gardening. I know it sucks for the restaurants and their employees but it’s kinda nice to feel somewhat self-sufficient.

And this exactly why Uber has been fighting like crazy against reclassifying drivers as employees. They don’t win if they have to pay all the extras that companies pay for employees. The fallacy is that drivers need to be “independent contractors“ in order to have flexibility.

Because unemployment insurance comes out of payroll and contractors aren’t on the same payroll. It’s the same with social security.

When I was in my mid-20s, the GF and I would easily ride 400 miles per day hunched over on a crotch rocket (my arms were like steel). Covered 6 states and a bunch of the national parks in the west on a 2 week vacation. Several decades later...there’s no way I’m riding on a seat the size of a 2x4 all day long.
