Hybrids seem like the answer right now, until battery tech gets better (and lighter.) The other issue to me that’s huge is weight. Putting everyone in heavier and heavier vehicles, that are also faster is a recipe for more traffic deaths.

A Model X has a curb weight higher than an F150 4x4 Super crew by like 500lbs,

We’re not talking about 100 year ago, and the factories of today are not equivalent to 100 years ago. FYI the jobs I did were perfectly legal in the state I live in, and kids can do them today, and are right now. Weird we’re not hearing about widespread amputations everywhere in the midwest...

The situation we are talking about is 14-15 year olds working in a factory in Alabama. I’m sorry bud, but that’s not really different from what I was talking about, other than the state...

Your attempt to make the leap to this being equivalent to unfettered child labor in the past, with an added jab at “capitalism”

At 14 I was doing lube/oil/filters on Semi trucks and trailers, brake jobs on trailers, etc. At 15 I was working in a tool and die plant and running stamping presses to test run parts. By 16 I could run a CNC, mill, lathe, etc. It taught me valuable work ethic, and those jobs paid way better than my friends working at

Sorry to hear you had covid. I’mn ot sure what you mean by my opinions on people getting secured credit cards, I think you are still building a caricature of me based on your assumptions. My first comment was literally asking what they meant by financial outlay, (so I had no opinion at all, as I didn’t know of it.) My

To be logically consistent, they should then levy much larger fines for EVs as they weigh a ton more, (or more than a ton more.)

A Model S weighs as much as a VW Atlas.
Model S Long Range : 4,561lbs
VW Atlas: 4,528lbs

VW Tiguan: 3,856lbs Max
Model 3 long range: 4,065lbs.

I’ll take your silence immediately following my sharing of some of my backstory as tantamount to you rescinding your “affluent” comment. Cheers.

My mom brought me home to a single wide trailer on a dirt road. When I was in 6th grade I convinced a shop down the road to hire me under the table (illegally) to sweep floors and clean bathrooms, so I could buy myself shoes for basketball since my mother couldn’t afford to buy me them. By 8th grade I was working full

Affluent huh? Tell me more about my upbringing since you assume so much...

I picked up a credit card while I was a student which likely helped me. I wonder what age the student range is tho? I helped a few friends repair their credit, and one had a bad credit score, and student loans in default/collections, and we found them a card that wasn’t secured. (I honestly had no idea that was a

Oh man, you got me good! I’ve helped many people with bad credit repair their credit, and I’ve never heard of anyone ever having to get one of these. I’ve worked with people with scores below 550, and student loans currently in default/collections, and they could still get a card. How bad of credit do you have to have

His comment was actually extremely sound financial advice. Never, ever use a debit card to purchase anything if you can avoid it. Holds on your account like the article talks about, identity theft, there are numerous reasons why you should instead use a credit card and then pay it off over a debit card.

How bad does your credit have to be to have a secured credit card? I know people with 550 credit that were able to get a credit card unsecured. I got an unsecured credit card at age 18 with no credit, and even got a free T shirt! :p

Financial outlay to get a credit card? I’m sorry what?

“It’s not a boat, it can only travel at 5 knots.”

Sailboat owners:

While we’re at it they should change a few other things too.

We should board the back of the plane first, boarding front to back makes zero sense.

If we don’t get rid of overhead bins, then when the plane lands everyone who doesn’t have a carry one should be allowed to walk off, then everyone with stuff in the bins can

I second this. If you are grown up and want the added luxury, get the Integra and put some sticky rubber on it and you have the Si, but upscale. We’re considering this to replace our A3.
