The Stinger will drive better, hold almost as much stuff as a crossover (with that hatch and the seats folded its has over 23 cubic feet of capacity) and look better doing it. If there’s even a hint of a problem with a VIN, you should walk away. It’s not worth getting involved in. VIN tampering is not a crime the authorities will go easy on, and to set an example they’ll happily seize and crush your car, and you will not be compensated.
