Bernie saw that Group C was becoming too popular for his comfort (wallet). It was better racing than F1. The cars were more interesting than F1. The cars were faster than F1. They flew too close to the sun so Bernie had the FIA melt their wings. The lame ass 3.5 formula was forced onto Group C and that was game

Stating it that way, yes, now I get what you mean.  We’re on the same page.

Racism is not a logical conclusion unless you want it to be so you try really hard to connect dots that don’t exist. I read the same “article” and did not come to the conclusion that racism is involved. I did come to the conclusion that some facts were left out. AB had the same grace period as other players. Was that l

You are seriously overestimating the level of ‘journalist’ hack is attracted to Deadspin and it’s extended family of blogs.

The chicanes were added to reduce speed because the cars were going too fast for everybody’s comfort. It was not because cars were crashing...

So they were exactly like most nearly all of the shitboxes: cut springs, fartbox muffler, maybe a hot air intake, you know a “racecar”.

That version of the T-bird has aged well.  I think it’s still a good looking car.

I’m not your pal, guy.

B5s have the center sun shade and ski pass-thru was part of the cold weather package.  I think the cooled glovebox was standard on B6s.

The 1st gens could off-road really well. 2nd gen lost some of the ability. And 3rd gen lost a whole lot more.  Same is true of the Cayennes.

Correction. All the kids who’s parents can afford club get to play and train throughout the year. I lived that life while my kids were growing up playing in the club system and it wasn’t cheap. There’s lots of good kids who’s parents can’t afford club soccer so they either get lucky and get a scholarship or they slip

box-to-box

Nah.  1 is worse then V.  4 is still where the fun is.

Why partner with Toyota?  They have the means to do it in house.  Years back they were working on a VW/Porsche diesel-powered sportscar. It was called the Bluesport. Sadly it died on the vine.

Quattro has always been an option on these.  Always...

Another plus is that this (like the CC) is still a very Euro VW, unlike the lame ass hillbilly-built Passat and Jetta we get here in the US.

Agreed with one exception. The B & D chassis look good but the greenhouse on the C chassis has always seemed not quite right to me. Understand that this is coming from a guy who still loves his B5 S4 and doesn’t plan on ever getting rid of it.

I’ll stick with Rockstar when I need a kick.  Although I can’t find the big cans anymore.

Grape NOS is a good one. Although I prefer the regular versions of Rockstar and Redbull above all of the others.

I see a Mini and a MG next to each other. I cant tell if the MG is a B, C or Midget. Also off to the left all by itself is a black car that looks like a Corvair. Jesus, there’s a lot of air-cooled VWs in there.
