I absolutely adore Kate McKinnon and the energy she brings to her weirdo characters, but I am not missing her, and when she finally comes back, I kinda hope she keeps to one sketch a night. Giving Heidi and Ego a chance to anchor sketches is such a refreshing change. Though I sense Aidy needs her comedy partner.

Last ten episodes.

Yeah Rami’s energy with Aidy was completely different than his energy with Pete or Aristotle, or Cecily in the cut sketch. And he seemed to actually fully inhabit these weird characters, even if it was for a quick comedy sketch. I really only thought he could do the haunted Mr. Robot thing until We Will Rock You, and

I’ve been to the Detroit Masonic Temple several times for an annual* Halloween party called Theatre Bizarre, which takes over eight floors of the grand building and turns it into a gigantic, immersive freak show. There’s burlesque performers, sword swallowing clowns, fire breathing devil girls, circus geeks hanging on

Loved her since A Different World (even before that because I didn’t find out til later she was the voice of Penny) I’ll say the same thing I said in the above linked Random Roles: I saw her open for Lenny Kravitz and the Black Crowes in 1999. She was great. She was fully playing up her biracial hippie / girl Lenny

If I was writing a tv show about the Beatles, in season 7, the penultimate episode would be them going out for a photo session, and seemingly having a fun time, ending with Paul remarking “Well that was a grand day out!” and the others agreeing and John saying “I want a divorce.” Cut to black. This is why I’m not a

Yeah I thought Lennon owned up to it either in the ‘70 or ‘80 Rolling Stone Jann Wenner interview. He came into Apple for a meeting and said, “I want a divorce” and was pissed that the other Beatles convinced him to keep quiet but then Paul revealed it in the publicity for McCartney.

I was planning on not watching, making it only the third episode I’ve actively chosen to miss (the space billionaire and the failed reality tv host being the others) but then inertia kicked in and I watched it anyway and it was ... fine. She was very wooden, and not funny, but the writing and performing around her was

Yeah I love Kate and the energy she brings, but to be honest I didn’t miss her this episode. Ego and Heidi stepped up admirably, and Dismukes and Sherman slotted in nicely to the 10-to-one weirdness.

Also the little girl in the woods and Ezri Dax.

Ego is the Jan Hooks.

I once wrote a horrible blues rock/funk song that obliquely referenced that game. I initially called it “Three Warps To Uranus” but it was taken the wrong way, so I retitled it “Airtight Brunette.”

...

It was about space travel!

Yeah it would be cool if they approached it like some crazy sci-fi/samurai society that wore armored suits that approximated animals and based their hierarchy on predator-prey relationships.

What if, instead of Rey’s father being Palpatine’s son, her mother was Palpatine’s daughter, and the reason Rey was a nobody was because she couldn’t carry on his name? And it was his own blind interest in patriarchal lines that caused him to disregard his daughter and was his own ultimate undoing? Though then her dad

Has anyone tried synch the new voiceover cast to the original animation, just so there’s people of color voicing the characters, but with good animation that’s actually interesting to watch, rather than a detached, boring slog? I need to learn how to do these things myself....

Yeah Kayvan Novak did an amazing job almost nearly duplicating his cast member’s voices. You could tell it wasn’t Colin because the midwestern accent was a little too flat (slightly more southern than midwestern), Laszlo’s plummy accent was a tad too nasal, and Guillermo was too, well, buff. Great work from the

And got a much better one.

“Never watch it, not a fan.”

It’s basically how I read this interview.

She’s obviously Carmen’s daughter with... whichever of the Amigos she got friendly with. I literally can’t remember a thing about the plot of that movie and my cousins made me watch it seventeen times that summer...
