Because Brett has attempted *far* fewer stolen bases. Gardner’s career % is actually slightly higher, but he’s attempted roughly 15% as many steals. That said, it’s the point I was trying to make — Rickey wasn’t a phenomenal speedster, he had an eye and a talent for stealing. Gardner is *much* faster but doesn’t

Thanks for the writeup, Patrick. Inge was a wonderful person who touched many lives and I think this post by their friend Kelsey shines some light on who they both were:

Rickey was a moderately-fast player who had an insane ability to read pitchers and execute near-perfect steal attempts. Gardner is a very fast runner who has never learned the art of stealing bases.

So you’re curious which unnecessarily rough helmet-to-helmet and/or leading-with-the-helmet rule was violated by the unnecessarily rough, leading with the helmet, helmet-to-helmet hit on an already wrapped-up, defenseless player?

I think it’s fair to say a lot of Nishikori’s shots were decent on those match points, Gael just kept getting to them and somehow hitting better shots in return. That said, I really am starting to worry that Kei has already peaked as a player. He had a rough schedule at the Citi Open, in terms of late matches, but he

Shout out to the always-lovable Vinci for immediately applauding the winner.

Sadly accurate. I’m within a few miles of it and I’ve been once in the last 5 years.

I also enjoy the story of Rickey getting on the Padres’ team bus and starting to head toward the back. Tony Gwynn stopped him and said “Rickey, you know you can sit up here, you’ve got tenure.” Henderson of course replied with “Ten year? Rickey got twenty year!”

Really enjoyed this, thanks Lyndsey!

I think that’s reasonable. If it’s a place I frequent I tend to leave closer to the 15-20% mark because it usually means better likelihood my order is correct and the portions will be generous. Also when they do mess something up, you tend to get entire meals refunded rather than just have your name put on a ‘list for

Which only underscores the absurdity of paying Otto Porter the max.

Focus on the ‘franchise killer’ part.

I see *someone* has never driven on I-66W before.

That Ken M guy sure knows his stuff

What makes me sad is that Nishikori currently isn’t enough of a threat to even be mentioned in the closing paragraph. Please get it together, Kei.

Actually, given that most of the people who attend E3 are developers, publishers, and tech people, there’s a lot more crossover than you’d think.

Agree completely. Everything she’s doing with this car makes me want to get a BRZ and everything the dealer is doing makes me never want to buy a Subaru. I realize this is likely a rare case of a dealer being aggressive, but from an optics standpoint they should be doing all they can to help her keep her car in

Holy shit that’s egregious! The call didn’t really get mentioned in the recaps due to the end of the match, but that’s an insane call in a tight fourth set.

I feel like they’re not *quite* the same generation, but if they were there’s at least an argument for CP3 here. He’s a better overall defender than Curry and better at playing the historic PG “Court General” role. I love Curry and would take his prime over CP3's without a doubt, but I’m not sure the argument for
