Do you like how the media objectifies women? No? Well don’t do it to men either. It might be 2017 but two wrongs still don’t make a right.

Can you name a period of F1 in say, the past 30 years when this hasn’t been the case for more than 1 or 2 years?
What year or years do you think F1 “wasn’t always a parade with meaningful passes and on track battles”?
And yet they don’t have 1/10th the audience Formula One has. The only race anyone really gives a shit about is the Indy 500, and the most of the interest in that race exclusively comes from the state of Indiana. Why do you think that is?
So here you are saying “The sport is broken and losing viewership worldwide, so I’m going to propose a bunch of ideas on how to make ‘the most relevant change in sports history’ that ignores how that these ideas definitely negatively impact current viewership, and would undoubtedly fail to bring in additional…
... and you think the solution to this is to do things like force teams to give a seat to women drivers that are objectively slower than the men they’d be replacing. So in your eyes, the one of the solutions to increased viewership is to embarrass women on an international scale?
Even better, lets remove the drivers…
So Ferrari no longer needs F1. Fine and dandy. But, why does F1 need Ferrari?
If 25% ratings drop because one team isn’t in the sport then those are terrible terrible fans that weren’t bringing in much if any income. That’s not sustainable to begin with. No team in any sport is bigger than the sport itself - unless you…
I was pointing out what Ferrari has with regards to racing without F1. Which as you agree is fuck all. I never said that Ferrari needs F1 to sell cars. That’s silly, but it’s also silly to think that F1 needs Ferrari to sell the sport. They don’t. Any “fan” who is just watching the sport to watch one team on the grid…
Yes, I know. You honestly think a huge chunk of F1's fanbase would tune in to watch that? I find that pretty laughable considering all of the spec series out there and their audience compared to F1.
A spec series.... where the specs are set by Ferrari... Kinda like how they paid Bridgestone to make tires to suit their car....
Wait that’s exactly what I was referring to.
Horse shit. F1 doesn’t need Ferrari. What does Ferrari have without F1? A luxury sports car brand that races lower tiers in WEC. How prestegious. Ferrari has a hard enough time managing their own F1 team poorly, how on earth are they going to run their own racing championship on top of that?
Besides, what evidence do…
Could it be that might be related to the fact that less people own cable, and F1 has been largely a dinosaur when it comes to an online presence? Liberty Media is already making large steps to address this.
The new owners just took over a year ago. Be patient.
And how much of that “sweet sweet revenue” is paid directly to Ferrari in the form of legacy payments for literally being Ferrari?
If Ferrari made their own series, it would be Ferrari destroying everyone else not in a Ferrari, or Ferrari changing the rules so Ferrari destroys everyone else not named a Ferrari. Do you…
I just don’t understand this attitude. How has F1 fallen out of favor? One or two teams have dominated almost every formula for decades now. Why would they suddenly become disinterested when Mercedes is dominating, and not when it was Red Bull, or Ferrari before that? There have been four teams since 1970 not named…
I’d argue you have to go even further back than that, really.
Formula One has really been about a handful of high budget hyper comepetitive teams winning the championship for eons now. Just look at the Constructors championship winners for past decades. You’re going to have a really hard time finding ones that…
Dear Ferrari, go ahead and try your own racing series. I won’t miss you. Sure it’ll be popular in Italy, and “the tifosi” will fuck off to whatever new series Ferrari creates, but give it a few years and people would get over it pretty quickly, especially if the sport is more competitive as a result.
One of the main…
“Right now its 90% of the win seems to be which car they sit in”
One the one hand, your kid might get bullied to death, on the other hand you would definitely, definitely go to jail, probably lose your job, possibly get sued, and your kid would probably have to change schools.
Parent of the year! How about instead of getting physical with the living embodiment of someone else’s poor…
They separate women from men in chess to give women more of an opportunity to compete at higher levels since there doesn’t seem to be as much interest from women to play chess as there is from men. But I agree there’s no reason to gender chess unless you’re trying to encourage greater participation from women.
The ice sheets and the rings are the same size, yes. And they do have mixed doubles competition where every team is two men and two women. But if they were to do a mixed event where a team of any composition could join, I suspect the only successful teams featuring women would be ones where women are the skips, and…
