I give people enough time to get over. Even if they are passing very slowly I try to assume they will get over when they get past this next vehicle. Then I just pass them on the right instead because they never get over. I’m looking at you Ohio driver.

I tried that once and the car in front of me just panic-swerved into the left shoulder... when there was open lanes to the right. You think too highly of your average driver, sir.

I’ve actually had people slow down when I’ve flashed my high beams. When I finally get annoyed and pass on the right, I’ve had they shoot me a dirty look like I’m doing something wrong. (I’ve also had the guy that decides the best time to step on the gas is when I’m about to actually pass him)

Dude...in California I don’t even try anymore. I just pass on the right and contribute to the problem, because California is a wasteland of idiots and I hope we all fall into the ocean someday.

In Ye Olden Days, flashing your lights to pass seemed to be a thing that drivers actually knew what it meant. Now it seems to either confuse them because they have no idea what it means, or is taken as a sign that you feel their manhood is inadequate.

How many high-beam flashes or left-blinkers or honks do you try before you underpass?

I'm thinking of buying a new Polo. I want the adaptive cruise control, which means I'd have to go for a factory order, and as I'm English, it would be a car from South Africa.

Had two Polo's can confirm.

This man speaks the truth. I want a five door Golf R, but the WV badge on the front is what's holding me back. A 10 year 100K warranty would greatly assuage my fears.

Ha. I worked at a VW dealership for years and our biggest problem was keeping enough parts in inventory.

It's interesting that you pick out the two "Americanized" VWs compared to the Mazdas. I have owned five European VWs (two Passats, MkV GTI, CC and currently driving MkVI GTI) and they have been excellent.

its a 2013... have you tried using the warranty? I think they hand out those things with cars for this particular reason...

Why VW doesn't offer a jacked-up, SUV-looking Jetta or Passat wagon in a market that has already proven to be obsessed with the Outback is totally beyond me.

"No, Hans, don't worry about creating a three-row Toyota Highlander rival. Just make ze vents move."

Almost forgot this little gem... because taller sells here.

So much truth above, many things I've said myself for years or decades of VW ownership. And now after 2 month of owning a Honda, I'm ready to go right back to the company I usually cursed. Asinine market segmentation and questionable long-term reliability aside, there is simply no other mainstream carmaker who acts

Interesting concept on the Mid size SUV point. I always like the Touareg. Is that how you spell that? I don't know. Too many damn vowels. Though the T-Thing seemed like a colossal turd in reliability, it was well designed (IMO) and quasi luxurious.

Volkswagen USA needs a lesson from VW SA.

Here, the Toyota Hilux (pick up) and Volkswagen Polo and Polo Vivo (Small hatchbacks) are the nations top sellers.

The Polo is a scaled down Golf 7 (Like Fiesta is to Focus). You can have it with a 1.2 turbocharged petrol engine and a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Perfect who people
