Echoing my thoughts. I didn't want to be the Debby Downer in every topic though. I think this would be a great platform...for an STI engine swap. Make the car fast, make it less tail happy.

Considering how credulously this was written, it feels weird to write this but, to quote Turkish: "I fail to see the correlation between losing 10 grand, hospitalizing Gorgeous, and a good deal."
Agreed, was in England recently and was impressed with how diligent people were at staying out of the fast lane unless you are passing. I'm sure Germany is best for this (but have not been yet). Everywhere in North America is just awful for this.
Doesn't excuse driving like a jackwad.
Looks to me like the SUV was passing the Honda (albeit slowly). They were probably all already speeding. I don't like left lanes sitters either, but the idiots here were in the supercars.
Or, you could spend 20 seconds on the EPA website to find out exactly how your electricity is actually generated: http://oaspub.epa.gov/powpro/ept_pac…
He could use Kat to inspect the cars in Japan too! Maybe even find one at a dealer, not auction
I'm not even big fan of Japanese cars and think this is a great idea.
I love this. It fits with what's great about Doug's articles.
Step 1) Convince yourself and others that through superior knowledge you can buy a car only the foolhardy or very rich will drive
Step 2) Buy car, pat self on back
Undoubtedly best suggestion, but violates the resale rule. Literally no human on earth looking to buy a used one right now, and banks won't finance em. I'd do it for $5k, and at the end I'd abandon it in a field somewhere.
Do not forget that you can even turn a profit, since there must be quite a few gearheads interested in buying it, but not willing to go through the hassle of importing it.
I definitely think a unicorn like rally car would be the most interesting purchase.
I firmly support this. I'd love to hear about the trials and tribulations of importing an infamous car like that.
Credit to 505Turbeaux for this, but an R5 Turbo 2 would be great. Rally car=good winter car.
Or just scream "YOLO" and pull the handbrake.
"we'll inevitably find ourselves beyond the limits of grip and relying on our skid control skills to get us out of trouble" Come on man, not everyone is Petter Solberg and drives beyond the vehicle's limits on a daily basis to work. If your average grandma finds herself in this situation, it doesn't matter how much…
Naturally, winter tires are not absolute necessity for everyone in snow states, (AWD vehicles can get by without)
Okay, I'll bite as well. 20 years in southwest Michigan, right in the crosshairs of a heavy lake-effect snow region, and I never "needed" snow tires.
You. You get it. Also would accept whole stable of motorcycles as a correct answer.
Are either of these really 25 times better then a nice NA Miata?
