I've only seen 2 people express any interest in buying this, and the rest are a bunch of excuses about the cost.

DSGs got the reputation for being "faster" because the DSG cars shifted well beyond redline (6,200 RPM) in sport mode.
Fantastic! :D The Golf R is back in the running for my next purchase now.
Terrific post. A nit to pick: I believe that Lehman (through the trustee for the creditors) still owns their 15% share of F1 .
Interesting point. I am not sure how that came about (that the manufacturers didn't just sell the cars direct to the consumers back in the days of yore).
A classic. It sold mani-fold copies and went into printing thrice.
The only GM vehicle with a defective Takata airbag is actually a Toyota (Vibe).
We think that with the Golf R we have a unique selling position with the versatility of being a great track car and the daily drivability. I'm looking forward to the comparison tests. We made a big jump in a lot of performance metrics, as well as the ESC off.
My first car was a Golf 1 convertible that I inherited from my mother. And I still own it! It's sitting in my garage in Germany. Every time I think about selling it I drive it and I just can't.
First, we're bringing over the Golf R to establish the R brand. We see potential for R expanding, whether that's Jetta or Passat or SportWagen.
Came here to post this. Truly you have a dizzying intellect.
I'm with you here, I'd love to see a Passat R. Something totally batshit. Why not a NASCAR Passat?
Will you cry the first time you see an R-400 that is "stanced"?
2 things I want to point out, both of which I might have lost in your article but make a HUGE impact on Bernie's evil and his genius:
The IMS bearing issue affects models from 1997 through 2008. This does not limit it to just 997.1s. It includes all 996.1s, 996.2s, and well as 986.1/2 Boxsters and 987.1 Boxsters/Caymans. The exceptions are the 911 Turbo and GTX cars.
Bad Tavarish! Bad Tavarish! Something in this vintage will be my next vehicle, and I don't need people like you driving up the price and making them even more scarce!
Nice! AWD for the winter as well, so don't have to put this toy away when the snow falls!
I did know about the TDI issue. My boss had a 2010 Golf GTD. Beautiful car :) Then one day, he showed up at work with a brand new Jetta. I said, what gives? Then he told me how his intercooler filled with water and then froze up to the point where the car wouldn't start because the air flow was restricted by ice.…
