1: ...let’s not use Trump as a measuring stick for anything but sheer, brazen incompetence. I’d rather not judge potential candidates by the bar of “Are they more qualified than Trump”, because there’s things growing on the shady sides of rocks more qualied than Trump.

Well said! And as others have pointed out before, we already have Pence. I’d rather have Pence without Trump than with him. But, I’m not going to get ahead of myself. “There is work . . . wild work to be done!” first.

Pence may be awful but he brings with him a sense of stability, sanity, and an understanding of political and societal norms. At this point, that’s good enough. I think we’d all be happier if we didn’t have to worry anymore about what awful things the President has tweeted while we were sleeping

ROTFLMAO!!!

A-motherfucking-men. The “but Pence is worse!” narrative is ridiculous. We have someone jeopardizing literally the political stability of the entire world every day, who is too incompetent, careless and selfish to give a shit about the lasting repercussions. Nothing can be worse than that.

The comparison I always like is if pence was a bus driver I probably wouldn’t enjoy being in the bus, wouldn’t like where it was going, and would hope he would eventually be replaced, but alsomwould be confident he wouldn’t drive the bus into a building to run over someone who said he had small hands

It’s weird that people aren’t getting that. Not only would he be tainted for any swing/independent voter, but a good chunk of Trump supporters would probably hate him simply for seeming to force Trump out. A lot of Trump voters weren’t regular Republican voters. They don’t have any particular affinity to the party,

Exactly. If he somehow has to take over, he’s a one (fraction) and done.

I just think of it this way. Everything Pence does can be reversed in 4 years, but weapons grade Uranium has a half-life of 4 billion years.

It’s funny that everyone forgot who Pence was, or how he ended up on the Trump ticket in the first place. He ended up on the Trump ticket, because he was basically about to have his ass ran out of Indiana for doing such a shitty job.

Well said. Besides, Pence would be so tainted he’d be largely unable to accomplish much.

Stop. Just. Stop.

Honestly, a garden variety Evil Republican would be a relief right about now. Trump is completely unhinged.

...yup. I remembered it too late to edit the post.

eh. obama hadn’t even lost his baby teeth when he ran, and he turned out to be a pretty excellent president.

Of course, that’s also what they said about Obama, that it was too soon. Harris is a terrific public speaker and a progressive, and she’s fierce and formidable. I think if she embraced an economic populist message along with the rest of her arsenal of progressive and fierce stances, with a long history of principled

I know it’s incredibly self-centered, but I don’t know that I’m ready for what they’ll try to do to her in a presidential campaign.

Lots of comments lately implying that “Trump’s going to get off, nothing’s happening, no one’s doing anything…”

I suspect little will actually come of these hearings, because no way is Congress going to impeach Trump, but one of the more important functions may be to give various Democratic Senators some air time so that the public can get to know them.

I’ve been saying Kamala Harris 2020 since before the 2016 election was even over. She’s awesome. I hope she’s president someday.
