Festivals just sound like the worst thing in the UNIVERSE. Like being around thousands of drunk/high people, baking in the sun, and having to use a porta potty. Ughhhh.

^^ honestly, this. If they dig it, fine. If you don’t, don’t read their posts. I think that weird Puritan sex negativity has waaaaay more to do with the whole thing than slightly cheesy writing. And I am NOT down with sex negative editing regardless of the writing skill.

They could have at least linked to Aislinn’s own statement about why she declined to attend. She’s a brilliant and strategic organizer who is too busy organizing with a movement that has changed the political landscape in Chicago to fly to DC to participate in a photo op with the president that was unlikely to have

Like you said, its already the norm. I definitely share your reservations though. Remember, if we get a guy like Trump in office, we may rue the increasing power of the Pres. However, in the hands of a responsible pres, democrat or republican, it can be a useful tool. (And to any righties that may think I am biased, I

Yeah, I was pretty clear (I thought, maybe not) that he’s the only person doing anything right now. I don’t disagree one bit.

I’m sure there’s some sort of civil rights nexus. Otherwise the FBI wouldn’t be able to investigate state/local police forces.

The Guardian spoke to Aislinn Pulley, co-founder of Black Lives Matter Chicago, who declined attending the gathering, saying it “would only serve to legitimize the false narrative that the government is working to end police brutality and the institutional racism that fuels it.”

Fo reals yo. Although a I have a feeling these two are getting off on being “transgressive” by doing this on insta since amateur porn/erotica is a pretty normalized part of the tumblr-verse.

They should try Tumblr. Much less likely to actually violate the company’s policies accidentally.

Everyone seems to think that saying “I’m voting for Clinton because she’s a woman” really means “I’m *only* voting for Clinton because she’s a woman, and I obviously just haven’t *researched* enough and only vote on genitalia”

I think the “special place in hell” thing can apply on a personal level. Like if you are in a position to help lift another woman up or look out for her, yes, do that! Example - if you see a woman being harassed in the workplace and you’re her supervisor, you do not let that shit slide! I do not, anyway. Or if you’re

what if...I was realized that and I was talking to other commenters to facilitate discussion in what is always an echo chamber anyway? And what if I said outright I wasn’t referring to Stassa or criticizing her at all?

Answer to the question: however the fuck she wants. The question is insulting (not that I’m pointing fingers at Stassa, just, you know, at the entire culture of this debate).

I went through much the same thing; I would mix up instant tea to have something to drink that wasn’t sugar-laden, and made it with room-temperature tap water because I didn’t like the taste of it cold. After I got a Pur filter jug that I kept in my fridge, I learned that it wasn’t the taste of the cold instant tea

I wonder if it’s not the doctors but the hospital. I’m sure you heard of a case few years ago in Arizona where a nun on the board of a hospital was excommunicated for okaying a life-saving termination when the woman showed up 11 weeks pregnant and gravely ill. She would have died had she continued the pregnancy.

I can’t be the only one who thought of Savita Halappanavar when I read this. I know her case was in Ireland, not the U.S., but it’s the sort of fercockta cruelty on the part of the Catholic Church that doesn’t care if a pregnancy isn’t viable or if a woman dies because of it.

Something else from the article:

First World countries have safe drinking water. That doesn’t necessarily mean that the water tastes good. And if it doesn’t taste good in a glass, it won’t taste good in a pizza crust, or in a beer.

Public water supplies come from a variety of sources. Rivers, reservoirs, shallow wells, and deep wells, all of which have a far greater impact on taste than taxes.

If your water isn’t fit for pizza making its probably because the best source of water where you live sucks.
